Overlevel RPG privacy policy
The short version. The game keeps your progress on your own device. There is no account, no sign-up and no ads. By default it sends a few anonymous usage counts (that the game was opened, how far a run got, which class you play) so we can see how many people play and where they stop. They carry no name, no device or ad identifier and nothing you type, they cannot be traced back to you, and you can switch them off in the game's Settings. We do not sell your data.
1. Who we are
Overlevel RPG is made by Ellemsoft. Questions about this policy: hello@ellemsoft.com.
2. What stays on your device
The game saves your progress (heroes, gear, gold, records and settings) in a small file in the app's private storage on your phone. We never receive it. Other apps cannot read it, and the game never uploads it.
3. Device backups
If you have Android's device backup turned on, Android may copy that save file to your own Google account so it can be restored on a new phone. That copy is made by Android under your Google account's settings and is covered by Google's privacy policy. We cannot see it. Turn it off in your phone's system settings if you prefer.
4. Anonymous usage statistics
While the "Share anonymous stats" switch in Settings (Privacy) is on, which it is by default, the game sends two short messages per session to Aptabase, an analytics service that processes them for us and hosts them in the European Union. Each message is one of these two:
- the game was opened, with how many days ago you first played and how many runs you have finished, each in a rough range (for example "7 to 29 days", "5 to 9 runs");
- a play session ended, when the game went to the background or was closed (once per session): how long you played (time with the game in the background does not count), how many runs you finished, how deep you got, which class you played last, whether you have ever beaten a boss, and which screen the game was on, each as a rough range or by the game's own name for it (for example "10 to 19 minutes", "1 run", "yes").
Each message also carries a random session number that exists only in the game's memory while it runs (it is never saved on your phone and is replaced when you come back after 30 minutes or more away), the game's version, your phone's operating system name and major version (for example "Android 15"), and your language. No device model, no device or advertising identifier, no name, no email, no location, no contacts and nothing you type is sent, and neither is your save.
To deliver a message over the internet your phone's IP address reaches Aptabase's server. Aptabase uses it only to work out your country and to count players per day, as a one-way hash that changes every day, so one person cannot be followed from one day to the next or between apps. We see only totals and breakdowns in a dashboard; we cannot look you up in it. The reason is our interest in knowing how many people play and where the game loses them, so we can fix it. Aptabase's own policy is at aptabase.com/legal/privacy.
You can switch this off at any time in Settings, Privacy, "Share anonymous stats". It takes effect at once: anything not yet sent is dropped and nothing more is sent. If your phone is offline, the messages are simply lost; the game never waits for them.
We use no other analytics or crash-reporting service and run no server of our own.
5. Ads and the internet
This version of the game has no ads and contains no advertising software. The only thing it does on the internet is send the statistics in section 4; Android's internet permission is requested for that and nothing else, and the game plays the same in airplane mode. If a later version adds an ad or any other online feature, this page changes before that update is released.
6. Children
Overlevel RPG is made for people aged 13 and over and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
7. Deleting your data and your rights
Uninstalling the app removes the save file from your phone (and, if device backup is on, a backed-up copy stays in your Google account until you delete it there). The usage statistics are not linked to you (there is no account and no identifier that follows you), so we cannot find or delete "your" messages; switching the setting off stops all of it, and you can object to it that way at any time. Because we hold no other personal data, there is nothing for us to export.
8. Changes
If the game starts to use data in a new way, this page changes before the update that does it is released, and the date at the top changes with it.
